Description

Facsimile dust jacket for the first edition (and early edition books) book
The Grapes of Wrath
by John Steinbeck
Original first edition published by Viking Press in 1939
A rendered facsimile dust jacket for the first edition book.  The book was published in 1939 by Viking Press. This jacket will fit the first and early editions of the books printed by Viking Press.
The jacket was rendered by fine artist John Anthony Miller and archival ink and acid-free paper were used in the work. The jacket comes trimmed, and enclosed in a Mylar jacket protector, pre-folded for and ready to put on the book.
This jacket paper is acid-free and I use expensive pigment inks. The jacket will last well over one hundred years with proper care. It gets depressing when one starts to note that the book jacket on your book starts fading away. This is a common thing. People use cheap ink. It fades.
Please note:
As on
ALL
our book jackets, there will be an attached signed label or signature in pencil on the verso of the jacket signed and stating that this is a facsimile dust jacket, also the monogram "JAM" of the artist, and/or "Facsimile Dust Jacket" printed tastefully near the bottom of the rear jacket flap and/or "John Anthony Miller Studio."
These jackets are restored and printed by myself one at a time as needed, they will never ever be a mass produced product and are works of art. No more than 15 or 20 of these jackets, if that, a year will be published as these are time-consuming and labor intensive to produce. I work alone, as a solitary artist. This is a labour of love for the book lover and person who loves fine literature and art. I am primarily known in the art world for my intricate miniature etchings and engravings. You can "Google" my name to find out more about me.
Thank  you very much for you kind response to my facsimile dust jackets.  These are made one by one by hand with great care. They will never be mass produced, and are made for reader and collector alike. I have   received many positive comments about my work in making and printing  these facsimile jackets. Here is one of them:
"John's unique artistry was evident as soon as I saw The Great  Gatsby dust jacket.  Having seen scores of facsimile jackets, John's work is in a completely different league.  The rich tonal quality of the colors is breathtaking and the weight of the paper is carefully considered.  He satisfied the needs of the most demanding client, even during a personally trying time.  I look forward to doing continued business with him in the future and give him my highest recommendation."  Ryan Dohm, Profiles in History
I am primarily an artist and take great care in the quality of my  work. A number of you are buying my signed facsimile dust jackets and framing them. If you wish me to send a jacket to you unfolded, please let me know.Thank you, John Anthony Miller.
