    Description

    ~ Sue-Abby’s Cozy Corner ~
Nearly 80 years ago, this sweet little picture was given to a little girl by her grandmother.
    On the back is written:
    Margie . . . from Granny Clayton
    Aug. 21, 1940
An endearing young scrawl underneath reads: "Thank you Grany [sic] Clayton"
With this picture, Margie's Granny Clayton imparted these wise words of advice to her little granddaughter:
    Five Little Words
There are Five Little Words, I would have you know
They are "PARDON ME," "THANK YOU" and "PLEASE"
Oh! use them quite often, wherever you go
There are few words as useful as these
These Five Little Words have a power
That fortune or fame cannot give ~
So commit them to memory this very hour
And PLEASE use them as long as you live
The endearing color illustrations show a little boy, little girl and their mother.
The green and gold frame is original, and shows wear appropriate for its age.  With the frame, the picture measures 6 1/2" X 7 1/2" .
In the corner of the backing paper is printed:
